Mental Health Awareness Month and the Value of Small Moments of Care
One of the things we notice most at our Corporate Wellness Events is how quickly a sense of calm settles in for our guests. When people first arrive, they are often still in work mode - holding their phones, keeping their laptops open or mentioning they only have a few minutes.
Then one person sits down for a service. They put their phone face down. A little while later, they return to their group smiling and say to a coworker, “You really should do it.” That person goes next. Then another follows. Slowly, the entire space begins to shift - it feels warmer, softer, calmer and happier.
That is the part we remember most. Not just the service itself, but the small moments surrounding it. We have seen someone hesitate because they have never tried a chair massage before, while a coworker gently encourages them: “Just do it - you’ll love it.” A little later, they are both smiling, laughing, and saying this should be part of every workday.
We have also witnessed simple, sweet moments - like someone asking a provider to add a tiny heart on a friend’s nail as a surprise. When she noticed it, everyone around the table smiled. Moments like that change the entire atmosphere. People open up, relax, and begin sharing kindness with one another.
A 10-minute spa service can shift someone’s entire mood. That is part of why this work feels so meaningful to us. While wellness services are not a substitute for mental health care, there is something powerful in giving someone even a few minutes to exhale, reset, and feel cared for.
During Mental Health Awareness Month, that feels especially worth acknowledging. What stays with people is often very simple: a moment to pause, a moment to be cared for, and a moment that makes the whole day feel just a little bit better!
