NYFW MOBILE SPA SERVICES

We provide mobile spa services for a wide range of clients from schools and hospitals, to film and TV, to fortune 500 companies throughout New York. One quintessential New York experience for us was working at Fashion Week for a major brand.

We were asked to show up at the theater pre-sunrise for a 3 pm show. When we walked through the door there was already lots of activity with the crew setting up the stage and lighting. We were then led downstairs and through a set of doors where we were greeted with an explosion of models, hair stylists, makeup artists, producers, and photographers mixing, mingling, and working. The place was rocking! It was electric and exciting and let's just say I did not need coffee that morning. Within minutes we were part of it and spent the next six hours helping each model get ready for the show.

Just as the show was about to start, I scampered off to find a good place to watch. It was magical. All these stunning women with hair two feet above their heads walk the celebrity-lined runway with great music blasting and fantastic lights sparkling above. And then in two minutes, the show was over. And I will tell you what, it was an amazing two minutes that I will always remember.

HEALTHY & BEAUTIFUL HAIR

Beyond the popular hairstyles for the summer, bright colors and the cuts that will help you look trendy, it's important to take care of your hair. While dry hair and static frizz are often associated with winter, your hair can also suffer throughout the summer. Consider how much time your hair spends in chlorinated pools, how much salt builds up, and how the sun's intense heat damages your hair.

It's crucial to modify your routine in the hot summer months. To help remove chlorine and buildup, switch from your regular shampoo to a clarifying one. You can also try applying a UV protectant spray when you are outside in the sun. Anti-frizz or shine serums can also be helpful to seal in moisture while preventing the humidity from ruining your hairstyle. To maintain your hair soft and healthy during the summer, use hair masks more frequently and watch your healthy and beautiful hair glow!

NORTHWELL HOSPITAL EMPLOYEE APPRECIATION SPA EVENT

Recently, we had an amazing opportunity to work alongside Northwell Hospital in showing their gratitude to thousands of their staff. We activated pop-ups across their network with on-site spa booths where everyone could enjoy services like manicures, haircuts and chair massages. Over three weeks, we traveled to 26 hospitals in 26 cities to primp thousands of hospital staff, and had the absolute honor to see thousands of smiles. It was truly special to be a part Northwell’s spectacular efforts to do something extraordinary for their staff who have been through so much.

WINTER HAIR CARE

The winter months make the days much colder, putting your luscious locks in more vulnerable situations.  Here are some Primp Tips that you can use to protect your hair from cold weather damage.

• One word: static.  Always condition your hair with a deep conditioner every time you shampoo. 

• Always bring a hat to cover your hair from wind, rain, and snow.  No one wants the“dreaded hat hair,” so we recommend wrapping your hair in a silk scarf before putting that cozy beanie on.  

• If you can, skip a day of shampooing (even two). Your hair is less prone to drying out of you shampoo 3 or 4 times a week than if you do it daily.

• Make sure your hair is dry before you step outside.  Moisture in your hair combined with the cold air will add further damage to your hair by freezing it and causing breakage.

• Trim your hair every 6-8 weeks to reduce the chance of dry, split ends. 

• Use natural bristles.  Brushes with natural bristles help redistribute oils from the scalp to the rest of the hair and also conduct less static than plastic brushes and combs. 

• It may be tempting when it is cold, but soaking in hot water does damage to your hair.  Hot water dries out the hair so we suggest cool or warm water when bathing.

• Limit the use of blow dryers and curling irons. If you must use them, try using a leave-in conditioner first. Diffuse it on low heat, concentrating on the roots. The less you deal with styling tools, the better off you will be.

• Avoid spraying perfume in hair and pay attention to the alcohol content in hair products, such as hairspray.  These chemicals tend to dry hair out and leave strands brittle.

• Hydration Your hair needs it too/  Using a humidifier adds moisture to the to the air—air that is typically dry due to indoor heaters.
